If you have been to a live concert then you might have saw that the band had things in their ear that look like ear buds and something on their back that looked like a wireless headset pack. If you thought this you were close.
They are called Ear monitors; they are made so you can here the other people in the band like the singer and bass player and the guitar player. They can help a lot because without them you might be off a beat and maybe the drummer cant here him self because he think the bass is playing to loud so he plays louder and then the hole band get all messed up. With Ear monitors you are able to here everything that has a mic so if you have a drum set mic the other people in the band will be able to here your high hat but you can always turn it down. Ear monitors are wireless so you can go all over the stage when the singer sings into his mic everyone will be able to here it. They keep everything together but lets say you have a gig and you are testing your Ear monitors the drummer will have to talk into his drum mic to make sure it works. You want to make sure that the whole band cans here everything with a mic. The only band thing about Ear monitors is the price. They can get very high so you might be without them for sometimes but when you have the money I suggest you go out and but a pair for the band. Before you go and hook everything up you want a guy who knows what he is doing because if you mix up some wires then your done so you might want to hire a guy but make sure he knows what he is doing and you have to be able t trust him.
